It’s late. I’m tired. Tomorrow promises to be a long day.

As such, I’m going to call it a night and get some rest. I wanted to write more, but I’m going to be taking small steps this time, just to see if I can actually maintain some momentum.

I need to start taking pictures again. I miss doing that.

These are moments when being unemployed doesn’t seem to suck as much. I’m somewhat comforted by the fact that I’m not alone in this boat, but it is sobering to see just how many of us are sailing these troubled waters. I used to see Mondays as that unsavory beginning to the work week. Now, it still has that quality, I just don’t have to get fully dressed in the morning to experience it.

Maybe it’s time for an experiment. I wonder if I can bring in some readers that are sharing this journey with me. I could always use the company…

I’ve been contemplating just what the purpose of this site/blog/whatever would be for quite some time, but I just seem to need to get over the initial problem of actually writing something on it. As I’m sure everyone is aware, the economic climate in the U.S. is pretty sad at the moment. As such, I find myself among the ever-growing ranks of the unemployed. I knew it was coming, but it’s just such a change after being employed steadily over the past 7 years. It’s a long time. When I was the 20-something member of the Gen-X society, keeping a job for more than a year was a feat, but that didn’t remain the status quo for very long. I actually find it somewhat amazing that I’ve been lucky enough to have jobs with a long track record. The only problem is that I sometimes SHOULD have left much earlier than I did.

So, the question is; “Now What?”

I had at one point thought I would take this site on some personal branding spree, since “Personal Branding” has been such a high profile component of establishing a “Web Presence” as of late. However, I think I’m just going to pursue the initial goal I had for the site; a personal log. “Blog” is SUCH a passe term these days, didn’t you know? LOL

I plan to use this space to document my possible venture into freelancing, and actually embarking on that road that could lead to working for myself for a change. I’ve signed up for some online marketing courses, I’ve gotten some new books to read to help me make some educated decisions about this possible new path, and I’m working to relauch some online endevours that could have some real financial impact if I can just FOCUS on getting all the processes working the way they should.

I need something to look back on, as I start down this new road, to remind me what I should and shouldn’t be doing, and to maybe help those looking to travel this same route behind me. If anyone IS actually reading this, let me know what you think. I swear I’ll pay more attention!

I was just just checking out Tumblr, and have since been looking at some of the blogs. I just couldn’t help but identify with “Shane”. Even if I don’t work in a cubicle….Thank God…

The clock has just flipped over to Monday morning, and it’s time to shut down operations for the day. Yes, I’m getting a wee bit too old to be keeping hours like this. next thing you know, I’ll be playing games again.

It wasn’t anything important, just me griping about how life leaves me no spare time for this site as of late, and a recent bout with illness didn’t help. Hopefully I can put some further time into the site again, and get back to figuring out how to make my own theme and whatnot for WordPress and Gallery. I need to whip this place into shape.

From a programming perspective, I’m still somewhat saddened that I had to abandon my own publishing script, but sometimes you need to decide where to best invest your time. I really REALLY hope that WordPress stays free…

The first decision was to re-up with my current cellular provider, Cingular (“Now known as the new AT&T!”) , with the ultimate goal of finally getting my hands on the somewhat new Samsung Blackjack. I’m a terrible whore for new technology, and I’ve wanted a PDA/Cellphone for ages. However, I wasn’t about to buy into the now dead Palm technology, when the announcement was made that the Palm O/S was being killed off, and all new Palm devices would be run off the Windows Mobile platform. I had stayed away from picking up the Blackjack right away when it was announced, because there weren’t any significant discounts given on the price for existing customers who renewed their contracts. This has always bugged me. Why is it that cellular companies give all sorts of bonuses to new customers, while their loyal customers get the ass?

Anyway, with the introduction of refurbished units available for sale online, and the drastic mark downs in pricing, I figured now was as good a time as any. I do realize that this is probably in anticipation for the upcoming Apple iPhone. However, I have little interest in this new gadget, as I already own a video iPod, and several computers, thank you. Admittedly, even the Blackjack is overkill for me, but it just looks so cool, dammit! In regards to Cingular…uhhh AT&T….uhhh…whatever, I’ve had good service with them over the last almost 3 years now, so really, committing to another 2 isn’t a huge deal. I need a cellphone. I use a cellphone every day. I might as well be getting some bling to go with it.

The second monumental decision, was to embark on my latest website creation using my REAL NAME! I know. Shocking.

This was the decision that was hardest for me to make, based on several things. I did a lot of research over the last while, investigating privacy issues, family and employer considerations, and a variety of other things that you should really put serious thought into, before deciding to have a website bearing your own name. I’ve had several sites over the years, and ultimately abandoned working on them for various reasons. Going this route will not only allow me to possibly build credibility for myself, based upon what I write, but also make me work harder to ensure that what I put out for public consumption is worthwhile and civil. Well…as civil as I can be…

So, for better or worse, here I go for another round in the ring…
